Key copying in Stuttgart from 7.50 €, no appointment
Short answer: bring the original to our shop at Haußmannstraße 122B in Stuttgart-Ost. Simple flat and letterbox keys are cut while you wait, from 7.50 € per key. Security keys with a registration card need that card and proof that you are entitled to order copies. Car keys with a transponder take longer and need the vehicle registration, so call first so we can check we have the right blank.

Why some keys cannot simply be copied
A security key with a registration card (Sicherungskarte) is deliberately protected. Only whoever holds that card can order copies, which is the entire point: it stops a former flatmate, a tradesman or a previous tenant from quietly having a second key made. We check the card, and if you do not have it we cannot cut the key. That is not bureaucracy for its own sake, it is the protection you paid for when the system was installed.
The same applies to master key systems in apartment buildings. There the authorisation comes from the owner or the property management, not from the person holding the key.
Where the shop is

How many spares are sensible?
For a flat, two working keys plus one spare kept somewhere other than your flat. A spare inside the flat solves nothing at the moment you are standing outside it. Neighbours you trust, a parent, or your workplace are all better places than the proverbial flowerpot, which is the first place anyone looks.
If you have just taken over a flat or a house, copies are the wrong starting point. Nobody knows how many keys are already out there from previous tenants and tradespeople. Change the cylinders once, then make your copies from a known baseline. That work starts at 89 €, see prices.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take?
Simple keys are normally cut while you wait. Security profiles and electronic car keys depend on the blank and the coding, so we tell you when you hand the key over rather than guessing on the phone.
Can you copy a key from a photo?
No. A photo is useful to check whether we stock the blank, but the cut itself is taken from the physical key. Anyone offering to cut from a picture is not someone you want near your locks.
My key says "copy protected". Is that the end of it?
Not necessarily. Some profiles are patent protected and only the manufacturer may supply them, and we order through the official channel with your authorisation. Others simply need the registration card. Bring the key in and we will tell you which case you are in.
