Locksmith prices in Stuttgart: fixed prices from 59 €
Short answer: a door that fell shut costs from 59 € during the day and from 89 € at night, on Sundays and public holidays. A door locked with the key costs from 79 €, or 119 € at night. A lock change with a security cylinder starts at 89 €. You hear the exact figure on the phone before we set off, and it does not change afterwards. If the door does not open, you pay nothing.

What "fixed price" actually means here
You are told the figure on the phone, and that figure is what appears on the invoice. There is no separate call-out fee, no surcharge for the stairs, no rounding up because the job took longer than expected. Material such as a cylinder is charged at cost and named before it is fitted, so you can say no.
The reason we can do that is structural rather than generous: the workshop is ours, the person who drives out is the person who works at the counter during the day, and there is no agency in between taking a cut.
Why the two door-opening rates differ
A door that was simply pulled shut is held only by the latch. That comes open with a latch slip and the cylinder is never touched. A door locked with the key has the bolt thrown, so the cylinder has to be picked. It is more work, so it costs more. This is why the first question on the phone is always whether you turned the key. How to spot a price that is not real
- A number far below 59 € advertised on a sticker or a flyer. That is bait; the invoice arrives at a different level.
- No fixed price on the phone, only "we will see on site".
- No street address, only a mobile number.
- Cash demanded at the door without an invoice showing VAT.

Is VAT included in these prices?
The figures are the prices you pay, and the invoice shows the VAT share separately as required. Payment in cash or by card.
Do you charge extra for coming to the outer districts?
Not within the Stuttgart city area; the same rates apply in all 23 districts, and the 25-minute guarantee applies there too. For towns around Stuttgart we quote on the phone before setting off.
What if the cylinder has to be replaced after the opening?
We say so before doing it and name the material price. A standard security cylinder including fitting and three keys starts at 89 €. You can also decline and have it done later.
Is there really no charge if the door stays shut?
Correct. If we cannot open it, you pay nothing, including no travel cost. It happens rarely, but the rule is absolute.
