What does a locksmith cost in Stuttgart?

It depends on one thing: whether the door simply fell shut or you turned the key. A door that was pulled shut costs from €59 during the day (06:00–22:00) and from €89 at night, on Sundays and public holidays. A door that is properly locked takes longer to open and costs from €79, or from €119 at night. A lock change including a security cylinder starts at €89 during the day and €129 at night. You hear the fixed price on the phone before we set off — there are no surcharges added afterwards, and you get a proper receipt with VAT shown.

Material for a cylinder is charged at cost price and named before it is fitted. Payment in cash or by card.

How fast can you be here?

Within the Stuttgart city area we give a 25-minute guarantee: if we are not with you within 25 minutes, the call-out is free. Outside the city — Esslingen, Waiblingen, Fellbach, Sindelfingen, Böblingen and the surrounding towns — we do not promise a time, because honest travel times depend on traffic. We tell you on the phone roughly when we will arrive.

Will my door be damaged?

In over 98 % of cases we open doors without any damage, using door-latch slips, picking tools and air wedges. Drilling is a last resort — only when a cylinder is already defective, or a locked high-security door leaves no alternative. If a lock has to be replaced we fit cylinders to DIN 18252 from ABUS, DOM, EVVA and BKS.

What should I check before letting anyone in?

Stuttgart has a known problem with dishonest locksmith call-centres, so it is worth asking three questions before anyone drives to you:

• Is there a fixed price before the work starts? A serious locksmith names it on the phone and keeps to it.
• Is there a real address? Ours is Haußmannstraße 122B, 70188 Stuttgart — a shop you can walk into, not a call-centre.
• Do you get a proper invoice? You should receive a receipt with VAT shown. We never demand cash without paperwork.

We will also ask you something: proof that you are allowed to enter the flat — an ID, post with your name on it, or a neighbour who can confirm it. That protects you as much as us.

Do you actually speak English?

Yes. Call 0711 12183471 and say you would prefer English. If it is easier for you, send a photo of the lock by WhatsApp — a picture often explains the situation faster than words, and it tells us which tools to bring.

I am locked out right now. What happens next?

Call us and describe the door: flat or house, did it simply fall shut or is it locked with the key turned, and is the key still in the lock on the inside. From that we name the fixed price and set off. You do not need to prepare anything except proof that you live there.

Can I get a key copied without an appointment?

Yes. Bring the original to our shop at Haußmannstraße 122B in Stuttgart-Ost; simple keys are usually ready while you wait, from €7.50. Security keys with a registration card and electronic car keys with a transponder take longer and need the right blank — call first so we can check we have it in stock.

Are you open at night and on Sundays?

The emergency service runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends and public holidays. Night and Sunday rates are the ones shown in the table above — they are named on the phone, never added afterwards.

Who pays if I am a tenant and locked myself out?

If you locked yourself out, you normally pay yourself. Some private liability policies (Privathaftpflicht) cover a lost key and the resulting lock change — check your policy. If the lock failed through wear rather than your mistake, it is usually the landlord's cost. We issue an invoice you can submit either way.
